I came here to friend you and read this--it made my heart break a little. One of my dear friends is genderqueer (he doesn't use the term trans very often, but basically he's a non-op FTM), and when I read about Allie all I could think about was how that would have so been my friend as a kid. Awesome article! (And I can't help thinking that the teacher is really brave. I know a lot of parents who would be furious with her for teaching that curriculum.)
